The James L. Maher Center: The 2012 Amica Marathon weekend will kickoff on Saturday, October 13 with the Amica 5k to benefit the James L. Maher Center. Based in Newport, the center promotes the general well-being of individuals with disabilities. The Maher Center provides diagnosis and treatment, counseling to parents and teaches skills to those with both mental and physical disabilities. In addition, this non-profit organization coordinates and advocates for programs on behalf of individuals with disabilities.

Course Information: The Amica 5k to benefit the James L. Maher Center will be held out at Brenton Point in Newport, Rhode Island at 7:30 A.M. Day of registration will be onsite at Brenton Point. You can also register on Friday, October 12 at the Amica Marathon Expo/Registration at the Hyatt Newport.

Weekend Warmup: All registrants for the Amica Marathon and UnitedHealthcare Half Marathon can run the Amica 5k to benefit the James L. Maher Center as a warmup for only an additional $10 and $15 respectively. In order to receive this discount, marathon and half marathon runners must present their bibs at registration on Friday or Saturday morning and pay the additional cost for a 5k bib and chip.
Amica 5k
The Amica 5k to benefit the James L. Maher Center will be held on Saturday, October 15. The Amica 5k is part of the Amica Marathon race weekend and is a great event for families and friends to participate in to warmup for the races on Sunday. [Register Now]
Registration Fees for non-registered Marathon and Half participants:
Before September 11: $27.00
Before October 11: $30.00
Onsite: $32.00

Timing Chips: The Amica 5k will be a chip timed event
Packet and Bib Pickup:
Packet and bib pickup will take place at the Amica Marathon expo and registration on Friday and Saturday. All marathon and half marathon participants who want to run in the Amica 5k must pay an additional fee and present their bib at the Friday or Saturday morning registration.
