In today’s fast-paced life, it’s becoming more and more difficult for couples to keep the romance going in the long term, especially when having to balance careers, bills, and kids. This just means that the honeymoon period of your romance is over and that’s not really a bad thing. If you find yourself in such a rut, then you’ll understand why this can prove somewhat boring to you and your spouse.
However, there are a few ways for you to rekindle that romance and bring the passion back into your relationship.
1. Do you remember your first date?
How about your most recent date? It’s relatively easy to find a babysitter to watch the kids and then go out to dinner, but there’s a big chance that this isn’t going to take you back to the first few weeks of your relationship. Dress up as though this is your first date, don’t be afraid to flirt in the same ways that you used to when you first met, and above all else, create a list of things that you’re not going to talk about that night. Go out and enjoy yourself, even if it’s just once a month, and bring that spark of passion back into your relationship.
2. Try new (and crazy) things
One of the easiest ways to wind up in a rut is to consistently do the same thing over and over again. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to fun new activities that the two of you could try, from fun dating ideas like going out to do karaoke to trying new things in the bedroom. Monotony is boring, so don’t be afraid to break the routine and spice things up with a bit of unpredictability.
3. Touch, talk, and trust.
It’s often the smallest things that you take for granted that could be stripping the passion from your relationship. Something as simple as touching, for instance, is overlooked, but by simply giving your partner frequent hugs and kisses, holding their hand, or running your fingers through their hair can create a fresh sense of chemistry between the two of you.
Don’t make sex an obligation. Make it fun for the both of you. This doesn’t mean you have to learn every position in the Kama Sutra or do things that you aren’t comfortable with, but rather that you should focus on what each other likes in bed and ensure that you both have a good time. Sex shouldn’t be a chore; it should be a reward.
Remember to keep the communication lines open. Be honest with your partner so as to prevent doubts and resentment from taking root. Just by talking, you will be able to build a deeper connection that allows for a stronger, more passionate relationship.
Finally, trust your partner and try to reignite the hero instinct which exists in men. Just because things have been a little flat in the romance department lately doesn’t mean that he’s gotten bored of you or that he’s found someone else. You’re not going to be able to accomplish much when you’re having to look over your shoulder at every moment because of perceived threats. Trust him and work together to rekindle your romance, because chances are he’s feeling exactly the same way.
